When installing SkyFormation application on CentOS, SkyFormation installation script will use the CentOS package manager, Yum, to install and update few OS packages needed for the SkyFormation app.
Yum is using by default the HTTP protocol to retrieve and update needed packages from its Yum repositories in the internet.
Communicating with internet services using HTTP protocol from the SkyFormation app machine might be disallowed and blocked/rejected by the organization Firewall. If changing the Firewall rules to allow HTTP communication from the SkyFormation app machine to the internet for the duration of the installation is not allowed/possible we could configure Yum to use a forward proxy that will tunnel the HTTP requests over SSL secure channel.
SkyFormation have deployed a forward proxy dedicated for this scenario in the internet at:
This guide explains how the SkyFormation forward proxy could be used to deploy SkyFormation on CentOS machine without requiring a Firewall rule to allow outbound HTTP calls.
Add to the file /etc/yum.conf the following lines
# The proxy server - proxy server:port number
# The account details for yum connections
* The proxy_password should be provided by the SkyFormation support team before the installation
